darkness

IMG_1441 (darkness)

darkness
from the bridge
above Breitenbush
goes deep
receding even as mountain
rushing
water through stone
approaches
black night swallowing whole forests

we step back in blindness
seeing with feet
balancing
over arches
splashing in rain soaked snow
covered paths

passing rustling shelter
we come to trails end
where bared winters tree
arcs over silence

these burdens
the slow killing of the world
the slow dying of dignity among
those surviving civilizations
our work of turning
wheels
seeks to be cleansed

we strip naked
in the melted snow
thirty three degree rain

our hands reach out for a rail
we cannot see
but for fingered eyes
which pull us forward and down
into this holes
heat
wet heat which
rises up
swallowing us
complete

earths gravity
releases as liquid
fire casts us
into a heaven
of blustery
storming winter’s
night

still fast paced
arrows of ice rain
upon us
keeping heads bowed
in devotion to softness
faces unable to raise
until what was pain
becomes pleasure

our touches are light
as heat overwhelms the body until
whole backs rise up into this
piercing of night
until whole bodies rise up and wander
seeking colder waters
snow drifts
to still
our own heated waters boiling
towards their
surfacing

we return with
vision of darkness
opened

weathered bodies
infinite directions
of loving touch
delve
forgotten worlds
of creation

suddenly discovering themselves fitting
into the curves of stones
as clouds open
to million year journeyed
star rivers
pouring themselves
into every opened eye
reflecting between
bodies joined
with the rising and swelling of
waters

until
back come
clouds which shroud
and flood and hide
deepening the embracing
darkness
we have
become
accustomed too

we fumble ourselves
back into clothes
and plunge
through puddled
needled
ancient
forested
snowy
ground
